Top 4 Family Fall Activities around Portland

    1. Go see the swifts! We are so lucky in Portland have the opportunity to see the swifts flying like fighter pilots into the chimney smoke stack at Chapman Elementary. During the month of September at dusk every night the swifts black out the sky flying in circles above the school only to dive bomb at full speed into the chimney to sleep for the night. It’s a great event to go with the whole family. Bring some chairs, snacks, a blanket and some binoculars and enjoy the show. 2. With September being officially here it’s pumpkin patch time. There are many fun places to go for fresh doughnuts, cider and pumpkins ranging from Sauvie’s Island to Salem. Here are a few of my families favorites: Baumans Farm (Woodburn), Fir Point Farms (Canby) and Lee Farms (Tualatin).
    3. Oaks Park (http://oakspark.com/builder/projects/template/) has a great program for kids 6 and under that they do on Wednesday’s. Kids get in for ½ price and adults don’t need to pay any entry fee but can still ride everything with the little kiddos. Not only is this a great value, but they also do a 30 minute story time with Chipper that includes milk and cookies for the kids. It’s a great time for those with little ones to do something special for the kids while the weather is still nice.
    4. Attend the Fall Harvest Festival in Wilsonville on October 27 from 9:30-11am. There’s pumpkin decorating, a parade for kids and pets, horse drawn wagon rides and story time! It’s a fun event for the kids to get dressed up in their Halloween costumes and enjoy the festivities.
